Director Mark Watkins Coordinator Stacey Hayner
March 13th - March 24th
We are currently in recovery, with all efforts focused on recovery
At peak, over 7,500 sites out of power totalling 52% of Osceola County's population
Osceola along with numerous other counties Declared Local State of Emergencies to ensure maximum resources to the response - Osceola County was added to the Governor's Declaration on March 24th
This storm occurred 11 days shy from the start of last year's historic Northern Michigan Ice Storm marking 2 significant Ice Storm Disaster Events in back to back years.
This event was Osceola County's 4th major winter storm / ice event this season requiring activation of it's Incident Management System
Osceola County's being added to the Governor's Declaration has allowed integrating of State Resources (MDOT) into recovery operations which are expected to take up to 2 weeks
The Governor's Declaration also provides potential consideration for financial response costs by government entities if costs meet eligible criteria
