During emergencies, it is important to know how you will get notified, how to report emergencies, and where to go for help. This section is intended to provide basic information in these areas.
Current Emergency Situation Reports
How to Call 9-1-1
In an emergency call 9-1-1 from your phone immediately!
An emergency is any situation that requires immediate assistance from the police, fire department or ambulance.
When you call 911, be prepared to answer the call taker's questions which may include:
The location of the emergency, including the street address
The phone number you are calling from
The nature of the emergency - including details of the crime, fire, and/or medical emergency occurring
Remember, the call-taker's questions are important to get the right kind of help AND they are already dispatching help as you are providing information.
Be prepared to follow any instructions the operator gives you, our dispatchers are trained to provide step by step instructions until help arrives.

2-1-1 Is your community resource!
United Way's 2-1-1 connects people to thousands of resources across Michigan. Services include food, shelter, utility assistance, disaster recovery, childcare, transportation, and more. Whoever you are, whatever your needs 2-1-1 makes it easier to find help for yourself, a neighbor, or a loved one.
During disasters, 2-1-1 can help save our 9-1-1 operators focus on vital life saving emergency calls by providing a non-emergency option for general updates, links to essential services.
Specialized Situation Reporting
Reporting threats to students and school safety. Submit a confidential tip to OK2SAY for immediate intervention.
Reporting suspicious activity to officials help investigative reports on terrorism or suspicious activities.
Reports help analys weather reports and contribute to severe weather forcasts and warnings.
Reporting uninsured damages help EM determine what declaration and where disasters have hit (only available during disasters).
